A Little Sock Knitting

For a little break away from rubber-stamping and scrapbooking, here is my latest sock knitting project. These are knit with Lorna's Laces yarn in colorway Hawaii Every fourth row, I added a bead in the center of the pattern. The pattern is called "Socks for Sarah" from the 2004 Sock Knitting Challenge book from The Knitting Zone and I used Queen Kahuna's Crazy Toes and Heels, cuff down technique with a slip stitch heel knitting two socks at a time on circular needles.

Below is a close up of the sock cuff. It's a little difficult to see the beads. Depending on what color the yarn behind each bead is, the bead either look green or purple.

Gift Certificate Holder

If you are giving someone a gift card or certificate, or even cash, it is easy to make your own prresentation card for it. For this one, I made a simple card, and then cut a piece of vellum about the same size as the card. I positioned the gift certificate in the card, then attached the vellum over them with eyelets. This should be tight enough so that the contents won't slide out too easily, but loose enough for the recipient to be able to get the certificate out without having to tear the card.

You could embellish this further by attaching ribbon, etc., along with the eyelets. But the gift certificate that is going into this is pretty on its own, so I didn't think anything further was needed.

The particular stamp I used for this card is kind of hard to color in nicely, so I opted to keep the design simple. It was stamped with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear powder.

Finally, I opted not to show this with the real gift certificate inside, because there is a chance that the person who is getting this will see it! :-)
